Ya,alot of cleaning type of scrathes eh?I don't know what they go for in that shape but I would keep looking at that price....

That's what I was looking for. Thanks guys. I thought that maybe those tiny scratches were a hint of cleaning but wasn't positive. I'll keep looking.

That coin is worth $50 to $75 at auction doubt it would fetch more

That's a shame. If they had just left it alone, it would have been worth much more. It would be worth having to me so I could but it in my example collection. I'd offer him melt value.

IMO, Great year Morgan,Someone's poor decision to scrub the coin,NOT good Sorry......PS, It still has some monetary value, just how much, I do not know. EF40-45 details possibly (damaged).

cleaned coins ruffly go for half of the graded values....common coins melt may be more than half the grade...YET a Key coin...say 1895-s AU50 might be around $380 retail,,,cleaned would be about half or $190...
So it really depends on the year and grade how it pencils out...in this case a 1890-cc in XF40 retail is about $155..half $75 is much better than melt.....But not worth buying at $250....

There are many people who are of the opinion that around seventy percent (70%) of raw coins sold on e-Bay are problem coins of some sort or other.
A problem coin is defined as one that would not grade with a top tier grading company.
These are the types of issues: Cleaned, environmental damage, altered dates or mint marks, artificially toned, whizzed, scratched, rim dings and counterfeit.
