About one hundred dollars. That is is the coin is attributed on the holder and attributed correctly. VAM View price is one hundred forty dollars. However that is if it is in PCGS plastic. Also, please understand that the price is merely a(suggested retail) price guide.

You can join the SSDC (Society of Silver Dollar Collectors. It is one of the benefits of membership. The Guide is usually issued twice a year (January and July). It is a complication of work by C. Logan McKetchnie (recently awarded VAM Master, Dennis Halladay and Ash Harrison (out going President of the SSDC.

Based on recent attributed Heritage results (they've sold twenty of them in the past year), I think $100 is a little optimistic for this coin at AU55. It's a relatively common 7/8TF, possibly the most common I see offered on ebay (unattributed).

I have NOT seen ANY 1878 7TF, or 7/8, 7/5, 7/4 attributed or not, go for less than 100.00, in AU55 or higher, higher going for hundreds in slabs, NGC, PCGS, ETC...More than a couple of varieties of the 7 over types, good luck.

PS, I apologize for my poor manners, WELCOME to the forum....

I have joined SSDC but haven't received anything as of yet except a email stating they had problems with their PO box and they got it fixed finally and that my membership is now active. At least I think it was saying my account is now active and since I can't find the email I am not 100% sure it didn't get sent out by Ashe through VW. I am still looking for it though

Edit: I found the email and it was from Ashe saying they have finally been able to input my membership, but it also says they were going to send it out within the next week and I haven't received it yet, have you already gotten yours Oz?

Last April, $65 bought someone an attributed VAM-38 ANACS AU58 at Heritage. Last August, $99 bought someone an attributed VAM-38 ANACS MS61 at Heritage. $115 bought an attributed VAM-38 ANACS MS62.

Grade/Price numbers between the TPG's are similar for these; educated collectors know that ANACS is now the strictest grader, and always has been the most trustworthy attributor.

Dave, I appreciate your events up date, I was, while I did not state so, referring to the past few months, I see you point out a few examples of ms 61, ms 62, I thought we were speaking about AU55'S,I believe I stated in higher grades the coins would sell for, according to the latest records, hundreds of dollars, not under a hundred. I appreciate your astute discoveries......I as you can see, know these coins DO NOT go for less than $100.00, there will always be an exception or two....I do consider my self an educated collector, only I am in learning for 47+ years, the ANACS score is a given, It was NOT always that way with them, Thanks again......

one must realize.....WHAT IS THE VALUE....WHAT ARE YOU are you thinking RedBook
a retail value? Or what dealers pay? there is a difference in the level of your buying power..For those of you much younger than me...there was once a BLUE BOOK VALUE...does any one remember that?
it makes no difference......

A difference that makes no difference is no difference. It is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it.

Gene, I have in my hand a blue book, and a black book, 1973, remember that one, LOL...PS OZ, You hit the nail on the head, exactly, and well put.
Any coin is only worth what some one is willing to pay, like the Barrett and Jackson auction I saw this evening, a 2012 Cobra sold for $455,000.00, simply put, the price some one was willing to pay for it......When it comes to coins, and people like you and I, I am talking about the prices we would pay at auctions like Heritage, TT, etc......
