I visited my local coin shop today and he has some silver eagles that hes selling for $40 a piece and I've been lookin at them on ebay and they have been going for $40-$45 so I was wondering if $40 is a good price. I'm new to coin collecting so I know I sound like a noob.

in silver content alone they are worth about $36

for me, $40 sounds good, since I just bought some from another member for that price.

An online dealer that usually has low prices, has some ASE's for $42.01 plus shipping

Dealers usually sell them from $3 to $5 over spot. So, yes $40 is good price for them.
