benchfreak221 Valued Member United States 123 Posts	Posted 01/08/2013 03:11 am I just recently bought an 1886 s NGC graded MS64. I received it today in the mail, a d I was looking at it and there isn't a mint mark on the reverse. It was my understanding that "S" mints always had a mint mark. I looked at pics of the 1886 S online and it has a mint mark. But when I used my NGC iPhone app that scans the bar code the pictures it brings up of the coin show no mint mark. I am confused. basebal21 Bedrock of the Community 13014 Posts	Posted 01/08/2013 03:34 am It is possible that ngc put the s on the label by accident, its been known to happen and probably the most likely explanation. I'm not aware of any of the s cc or o morgans not having a mint mark on them Report this Post to the Staff

There would be a second S right next to the date on "S" mintmark silver dollar slabs. Report this Post to the Staff
denco7 Pillar of the Community United States 2543 Posts	Posted 01/08/2013 08:25 am no mint mark, no S mint, pure and simple. Someone mistook the silver designation for a San Francisco designation. Return it, because I am sure you paid a premium for it. Report this Post to the Staff
