Unfortunately, I could not get to the show until 12:30pm on Saturday and the show closed at 3pm. When I arrived, about 100 dealers had been set up. By 1pm, about 1/3 had either taken down their tables or were in the process
I had a short amount of time to fill my want list so my strategy needed to change. I went there looking for one or two nice upgrades for my type set(bust half-dime and dime, SLQ T-1, etc) but the time limit would not work with my usual slow, deliberate style of shopping.
I decided to go another route with relatively inexpensive coins with nice eye appeal. Luckily for me, this strategy worked out. My first two purchases are pictured in the grading forum- an 1863 Cu-Ni Indian Head cent($50) and a 1938-D Buffalo nickel($24).
I then went after some Lincoln cents. Since the 1909 coins seem to be so popular these days, I decided to purchase a 1909-P and a 1909-P VDB before the rest of you fools buy them all up
I purchased them from the Miller's Mint table- the 1909 was graded 63RB $21.50(looks more RB than BN in hand) and the 1909 VDB was graded 64RD $44.50.
