What Are Your 2024 Numismatic Collecting Goals?

1. Fill the last three core Dansco album holes

2. Finish the extended part of the PCGS Ike set

3. Buy whatever appeals to me from 2024 US Mint offerings, including:


4. Add some Ike and WWII related coins from around the world.

5. Move my world coins from 2x2 holders (stored in 12 pocket Dansco pages) into various hole sized of standard Dansco pages. If I do it right I should be taking photos as well.

1. Bring my 7150 Barber Half album to 90%+ complete. This one is going to be highly dependent on what hits the market. Some of my remaining coins are R-3 and R-4 and are hard to come by.

2. Add a Carson City Morgan. 79-85 and 89 needed.

3. Add another Liberty Seated Half and Dollar.

4. Probably not going to get much from the mint other than the proof and reverse proof Innovation dollars.

My goals for 2024

#1: Enjoy the FUN Show in Orlando! First time visit.
I am looking forward to see many beautiful US and World coins and hopefully be able to buy several for my collections.

#2: Complete my ATB Silver Proof Collection (Dansco Album).
I already have the sets of 2010-2017. Now searching for reasonably priced 2018, 2019, 2020 sets, and a Tuskegee Airmen proof silver quarter.

#3: Complete the "Kingdom of The Netherlands" Type Set.
It is slow progress. I did recently win a Willem I Gulden (1820) at auction (Heritage) for a good price. I am still looking for a Willem II Rijksdaalder in VF-XF condition (1840), in addition to several modern commemoratives. The latter should be easy to obtain once I visit The Netherlands again next summer.
I did decide to remove the Dutch East Indies and Antilles coins from the collection to focus on mainland The Netherlands only.

#4: Expand the Set of Silver Ducats from The Dutch Republic.
At a Dutch online auction (Schulman) I bought a very nice Utrecht 3 Gulden piece (1682). It is unique in the sense that this is the only 3 Gulden piece from the Province of Utrecht that features its heraldic sign on the reverse. Currently, I am eyeing several provincial coins on Heritage. I am hoping to win at least one of these.

#5: Add to the "Symphony Set of Coins" (formerly "Set of Coins of Composers").
This project goes well. I decided to expand the set by not only having coins of composers in the set, but some general, music related commemoratives and medals as well .During my Thanksgiving trip to Portugal I bought a Fado coin from a seller in Lisbon. A few more coins were recently ordered from international ebay sellers, but these have not arrived yet.

#6: Add to the International Birthyear Set Collection.
I now have 20+ completed sets and a few partially completed sets. I was able to buy a handful of coins at the NH Coin and Currency Expo in October 2023. Hopefully there will be more to be had at the FUN Show.

#7: Medals from Utrecht.
This is also slow going, but I was able to buy a beautiful 1892 medal of Wilhelmina and Emma visiting Utrecht and medal from the 1930's feature the Dom of Utrecht. Let's see if more show up at auction in 2024.

Sticking with my goals from 2023.

1) Add the missing coins to my slabbed 7070.
2) Add the missing coins to my slabbed Indian Head cent
3) Add the missing notes to my US currency type set.
4) Add any missing coins to my coins from Portugal Type Set.
5) Add any missing notes to my currency from Portugal Type set.
6) Upgrade any coins that I can from my albums

None of these will be completed, but I'll work on these sets as my hobby fund is replenished.

Haven't participated in this annual thread for some time, but would like to record here a few goals:

1. Continue to acquire new dated or datable coins from the 15th Century. I currently have 30 years with empty slots, so it would be nice to fill two or three of those. Bonus points if I knock off any dates in the 14th Century.
2. Continue to acquire coins datable to a single decade. From present times going back to the year zero AD, I've got 22 empty slots. I'd like to fill four or five of those.
3. Only slightly out of scope for this discussion: be the best CCF moderator that I can be!

My goals:

a) Put more focus on getting nearer to completing my long short sert of uncirculated Walking Liberty halves. Tough dates/mints are the 34- and 35 WLBs from San Fran mint. They can be surprisingly pricey in grades above MS63.

b) Keep US Mint purchases to AI proof and rev proof sets, AI business strikes, Uncirculated Sets. Possibly the burnished Unc ASE. If extra cash comes in I will get a Silver Proof set but I may wait a few years for the price to reduce on the secondary market (it seems one has tow wait about 4 years to get them at a significant price reduction).

c) Would like to get a few items from Dan Carr's Moonlight Mint.

d) And usually I like to get 2 - 4 bullion coins from various World mints.

e) If my budget permits a silver medal from Medallic Arts Co or a large bronze one.

Sell off more of my lower value material and use those proceeds to and upgrade/add a few more PQ classic commems to my collection. Arguably that was also my 2023 goal but I got side-tracked by a few great "non-core collection" purchases that I just couldn't pass up.
