Banjax Valued Member Ireland 112 Posts	Posted 05/07/2009 8:56 pm i just realised wikipedia has the size of the silver 10 euro wrong, its diameter is 38mm, much bigger coin than the gold 20 euro. the central bank sells the coins, I am on the mailing list of the irish central bank and thus I receive info on any coin being released before it is released. The €10 and €20 pieces are not commemorative coins but collector coins. Unlike the circulation pieces and the commemorative €2 coins, such silver and gold coins are legal tender in the issuing member state only. In some euro countries silver collector coins can be had at face value, in others there is a (sometimes hefty) surcharge, as in the US. These ones are proof pieces and cost €36 and €55 respectively. @Banjax: If you purchased both, that should have been €90 ... ah well, plus shipping. Design wise, I like the 2007 and 2008 issues better. Maybe because this one does on one hand follow the design of the Ploughman notes but on the other hand "reduces" the original design a little too much. Christian Report this Post to the Staff

I have both 2007 (celtic culture) and 2008 (skellig michael) sets aswell. the design was supposed to have a futuristic aspect to it aswell as the traditional ploughman view, I think they are nice, cant wait to receive them in the post.
