Another cleaned coin for my skanky penny collection but very cheap price so I cant really complain. It does have a sweet die crack on the reverse....

I figured I'd never own a nice high grade, full bands 1945-P, so I went the other direction and got a high grade one with a poor strike and an eroded die. The upside of a worn out die like this is LUSTER! The toning is WAY nicer than the seller's photos, and with the light at the right angle, it really highlights the very weak central strike so typical of the date.

My newest acquisition, a PCGS AU-50 1837 No Stars, Large Date Half Dime. This is the second piece of the Liberty Seated half dime type set I am assembling. The first was an 1838 No drapery also a PCGS AU-50 coin. The rest of this set will include the following types: 1840-53, Stars, with drapery 1853-55 Arrows 1856-59, Stars, with drapery, with weight standard of with arrows type 1860-73, Legend on obverse Plus an example from each the two branch mints, New Orleans and San Francisco, which struck Half Dimes for a total of eight coins. I made my first Seated Liberty dollar purchase last week. A friend was liquidating a family friend's father's collection, and I really liked the look of this one: I also bought 2 large cents last week (also a first), an 1847 in F condition (which is in a flip with waves and hard to photograph) and this 1851 with a weak 5:

Nobis1, I like the look of the dollar too. Very nice coin! The Seated Liberty series is my personal favorite for the classics, for the modern era, i.e. the 20th Century to present, it's the Walking Liberty half, the Standing Liberty quarter and the Mercury dime all tied for most favorite. Gyrene - thank you. The Seated Liberty series is nice. I probably paid too much, but it caught my eye; may also buy an XF/AU common date Seated Liberty quarter off of him. In the modern era, you are dead on about Walking Liberties (and SLQ's and Mercury's for that matter). They are my favorite.

Really nice Seated Liberty dollar! Good XF type set coin, I bought a 1842 a few months ago myself. They are attractive coins.
