Hello, I have acquired the 3 coins shown below over the past year and I don't know what they are. Well, one of them, COIN #1, I think might be a doubled die, but I'm not sure -- it could be Mechanical Doubling or Die Deterioration. I just don't know. COIN #2 I have no clue as to what it might be. Just stumped on this one. COIN #3 is a Roosevelt dime that looks like it has a big chunk out of it at about 8 o'clock. I would sure appreciate any help on these. The dime is called an indent error.The second cent is acid damage.The 1953 I can't tell. John1  |

Thank you, John1. I was afraid that first coin would be impossible to read. I'll see if I can get a closer view, but bad as I am with photos & scans, I don't think we ought to count on it!

Coin 1. Need better pics but is a Woody.
Coin 2. Scrap value.

A 'Woody' is a nickname for copper/bronze coins that take on or develop a wood grain appearance. This is due to an improper alloy mixture. Some look more like wood than others. MAD is Mis-Aligned Die.
If both sides of a coin are doubled, its almost always mechcanical doubling.
