1998 Silver Penny. - Coin Community Forum

Arnie New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 04/28/2007 8:47 pm I have a silver penny that was found in a regular roll of pennies. It has all of the traits of a normal penny, except that it's silver. Is it worth anything? Or why is it like this? I'm not a coin-connoisseur or anything...I'm just sorta interested. Your cent is more than likely plated with another metal and is not an error and is more than likely not worth a premium above face value . Metalman Pillar of the Community United States 7123 Posts	Posted 04/29/2007 02:46 am The cent looks plated to me ,, is that copper color showing thrugh on the rim ? by weighing the coin you will know for sure it should weight 2.5 grams or just slightly over due to the plating .
