I love this piece, and more so when I go to pay cash for something and it flips out on the floor, what a beautiful sound it makes.

Quote: I'm sure it was a 22 that did the damage I shot a clad Kennedy half with a .22LR and it disappeared into the layers of cardboard and phone books. I tried again, same results. The 3rd time I taped it to a piece of 3/4" plywood and had to dig the half out of the wood. The bullet bent the coin and became lodged in the center of it. I wish I would have kept it but some guy the next night at the coin club meeting offered me $5 for it so I sold it. Your coin is silver but maybe it was something a little more powerful than a .22

Hi Jack, thanks for your post, I'm not a gun guy or too knowledgeable about bullets, if it was something else that caused the hole I'd sure love to figure out this mystery lol.
Cheers

I took my pictures for October on time, but forgot to crop and post them until now. In other news, the nicer of the two 1899 quarters I've had in my pocket seems to have disappeared. I thought I saw where I dropped it, but I couldn't find it. Oh well, it's not a huge loss.

Accidentally used my Shield cent I've had for a few years now. Spent it on a Vanilla Coke. Oh well, it was getting kinda nasty with the zinc rot and all. "One Cent" on the back had started to merge with the ribbon it was on.

Quote: I sure wonder how rare decent zinc cents will be in 2116. Probably a lot more common in high grade than circulated, though I'm reminded of the taxi driver from that one BTTF episode. "A 1983 Washington head quarter! I'm rich!" A 1983 Lincoln head cent would've probably made him even richer. That said, now you've convinced me to get a shield cent myself to add to my growing bunch of pocket pieces (last time I checked, I had a British 1977 crown, a lowball 1873 penny and a near-lowball 1925 halfpenny [both put there to clean up the dirt on them - the penny had mostly cleaned up, so I'm taking it out], a Norwegian 5 kroner [also for dirt cleanup, but it hadn't cleaned up much at all], a Ukrainian commemorative [though the design's so flat in the first place that I'm not sure it was a good choice], and most recently a Canadian 1952 nickel that got too much rust on it... seriously should do something with the sheer amount). [If you recall my previous post - I decided to take the copper 5 kopek out a few months ago, it was getting too many ugly red spots from all the wear.]
