Ciao,
have a look to this nickel: for sure there is a problem on the surface, close to last 8, a struck trough grease maybe?
And, looking at that 8, it looks to me with a strange shape, the curves inside the number are not regular like the other ones. I've checked other coins of 1888 and the last 8 looks normal in those.
Could have been repunched?
