Can't recall having seen a Celtic coin with a cross as design.
Let me make a wild guess:
It is known that early Byzantine coins circulated in Britain with some having been found in hoards in East Anglia.
So it might be a barbarous imitation of some Byzantine coin.

Thanks Medieval, it is a start. There are a few imitations of Theo II but I can't find the cross, and they have portraits of a sort. Hope I can find it in the envelope when it gets here.

The obverse is a radiate bust (this is a (probably) british barbaric imitation). I imagine this would make the other side the internal part of a flaming altar, like other Claudius imitations.  |

Easier to see if you use the magnifier on the ebay side. I have rotated the obverse to the right and the radiate is easier to see. |
