Welcome back CND! My son and I joined the CCF back in May. I read your whole thread. Aaaggghhh! It killed my eyes.

Do you mind if I ask what kind of eye infection you had? I'm an optometrist. Coin collecting is one thing I do as a break from my profession.

BTW, my son is DanNickelCollector.

I after 20 boxes I have about 145 2009 d and exactly 0 2009 p. so I had an east coaster ship me 2 boxes and I still got no more 2009's. was kinda bummed that I still can't fill that hole, but all well. they also had no silver and no buffalos.... but I still wasn't disappointed. I did get a hole filler and lots of low mintage coins. I'm definately happy with the boxes I got. here are the results for the 2 boxes:

1939
1940 (x4)
1940 d
1940 s
1941 (x7)
1946
1946 s hole filler!!
1947
1948
1948 d (x2)
1949
1949 s
1951 (x6)
1951 d (x3)
1951 s
1952
1952 d
1952 s (x2)
1953 (x2)
1953 d (x2)
1954
1954 d (x2)
1955 d
1956
1956 d
1958 d (x8)
1959 d (x2)

1989 canada 5 cents
1952 belgium 1 franc

low mintage ones were:
1946 s (13.6 million)
1949 s (9.7 million)
1951 s (7.8 million)

surprised how many s mints I found from the east coast. and I was surprised how many of the 1951 dates I found from different mints. that was a relatively low mintage year for each mint. it was a fun 2 boxes to see almost all phili coins. still on the quest for my 2009 p though.

JonNickelCollector,
I will send you a PM later on with all the detail I know about the eye. I have about 95% vision in it now, the worse thing being at night there is a halo around everything seen by that eye. Have a difficult time making out detail at all times with it. Fortunately I favor the left (good) eye looking at coins!

Rachems, you're getting close to a set! Unfortunately, the six you still need are going to take a lot of patience to find! But, you will; a couple of people on here other than me have completed sets, so it definitely can be done. Murrellington, haven't read backward to see what part of the country you're from, but I find 09's all of the time so it should be a matter of time for that one. Plus, the 45P should be easy, it's one of the most frequent silver nickels I've found. 53s should turn up soon, too. 55 is surprisingly tough, though. Either way, stick with it; you will get there!

I'm from san diego. so all of the s key dates were easy, just waiting on the 53s. and for some reason I have about 150 2009's from denver and none from phili. not too worried though, I'm sure I will get one soon.

cnd I had a diabedic eye problem that I got rid of last year. The ailment made everything fragmented but still clear and in focus. Made for some outstanding error coins to look at although they were not errored. After a few shots to the eye (ouch!) and about 6 months of meds things are all clear now. Have faith in your docs and good luck.

I keep on landing full rolls of BU 2011-D nickels. Is there anyone that is interested in these? If not, it's back to the bank they go!

First of all thanks to coppernickeldaddy for generously sharing his results with us.

I have lurked this board for some time now, having started searching nickel boxes one year ago today. In that time, I have searched 6,850 rolls. That number would be higher, but I received a number of 2010-P, 2010-D, and 2011-D boxes.

At this point, I lack the following to complete a Jefferson set 1938 - 2011:

1938-S, 1939-D, 1944-S, 1950-D, 2011-P.

My five least common finds:

1939-S 2
1945-D T2 2
1942-S T2 4
1955-P 4
1938-D 5

My five most common finds:

1941-P 133
1940-P 136
1954-D 137
1957-D 165
1959-D 248
1958-D 261

Oddly enough, I have found seven 1943-D issues, but no 1944-S, which I find to be rather odd.

Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread.

Welcome to the nickel searching thread joseph!

That's a lot of rolls. A lot of people on here (me included) are close to completing a set but only a few have done it. Good luck with the last ones left! Have you had any other interesting finds like V nickels, Buffalos, or errors?
