I just worked $60 in nickels (and dumped $40 in new 05d's). I found 10 pre-60 and a 2004 Bahama....second one within a week. Time for another drink with an umbrella in it  |

bibd, GREAT CHART!! I love it!! There was one box that I went through (a bank box) that contained I believe 26 of those 1958 Philly nickels; oddly enough all of them BU! Someone must have dumped a roll of them right at the time the box I was working on came together. Hence, the skewed numbers on the 1958P. I'll be posting the next update later today; NEWS FLASH: Found a 1901 Liberty nickel!! |

I'm glad some of you like the chart. I have done this a couple times in the past for large samples, and it seems to be very insightful. But my hat is off to those of you who do the counting - that's where the real work is at! (I envy your fun in searching, though!) Sometime I will add the sampled Buffalos to the chart, and also try to fit a trendline. It can be used to estimate how long before something like a 1950D will show up, assuming not too many people notice them and pull them. (Of course, many of us know that the 1950D Jefferson has behind it a unique story of hoarding within a decade of its release.) Congrats on the new-found Liberty nickel! That's awesome! |

Ive only ever found 2 1950 nicks no Ds. I havent found a 1958P yet either. Those are 2 nicks I'm hoping to come across sooner or later in rolls. Then Ill have the set from 1946-1962. The 1938 and 39 Ill probably never find a D or S for neither ones. But who knows maybe one will pop up in a roll of mine sooner or later.

39s's are not as rare as the other four of the big 5, ive found three of them so far in my search of the 1950 p ive found 3 including 1 proof

I have gone through about $2,000 of nickels and had not found a 54-s until tonight.
Then, I found 2 of them in a single roll.
I know 54-S are not that rare, in fact it was the second most common coin I was missing (52-D is the most common coin I haven't found yet) but I find it interesting to find two 54-S in a single roll

Hi All!
Haven't posted for a few days, and updates to the survey will be scarce for a month or so, as I am in the process of moving. I do have two updates that I am sitting on; I have to find the time to get them on here. BUT, I haven't looked through a roll in almost a week (going through withdrawal!). The 1901 is a solid Good with full rims; couldn't have been in circulation all of those years. At the other end of the date spectrum from the same 100 rolls I found a 2007S Proof. I will get those updates on as soon as I can, and once the move is complete will start regular updates again until I get to 25,000 rolls.

I had some fun with this and made predictions of how many of each year SHOULD have turned up so far, under the assumption that coins of a given date/mm will decay out of circulation similar to other "close" dates.
