$100 box of nickels tonight. First box of nickels in quite some time. Got 2 War Nickels (both '43p), 4 Canadian nickels (one .999 Ni), and 29 pre 1960 coins, the oldest of which was a 1940p. No buffs or V's, though I wasn't expecting any, as they are VERY hard to come by. I did get 3 nice ones...'63, '64, and '66, all AU with VERY little wear and partial steps still visible. Dunno if I'm gonna keep 'em though....I think the mintages are too high for them to ever be worth more than face.

I cracked the first roll on a box last night solely to pull a nickel for help opening fed rolled halves. The second coin in the roll was a nice 42' P SWN. I don't see these often, let alone the 2nd coin in my first roll. Even better, it is a lower grade AU.

The lack of silver in the last few boxes is interesting. Maybe this means a big haul in the near future? Run-of-the-mill results this time. After $100 more worth of nickels (1470 total rolls) My finds are as follows....
Liberty 1889........1
Buffalo 1919........1 1936 D.....1 1936 S.....1 19__........7
Jefferson 1938........8 (+1) 1938 D.....2 1939........53 (+3) 1939 S.....1 1940........53 1940 D.....6 1940 S.....7 1941........49 (+2) 1941 D.....8 (+1) 1941 S.....4 (+1) 1942........13 1942 D.....3 1942 P.....1 1943 P.....10 1943 S.....1 1944 D.....1 1944 P.....5 1945 P.....5 1945 S.....2 1946........58 1946 D.....12 (+1) 1946 S.....2 1947........28 (+2) 1947 D.....6 (+1) 1947 S.....2 1948........28 (+1) 1948 D.....7 1948 S.....4 1949........18 (+1) 1949 D.....5 1949 S.....2 (+1) 1950........3 1951........16 1951 D.....6 1951 S.....4 1952........25 (+2) 1952 D.....4 (+1) 1952 S.....4 1953........23 (+1) 1953 D.....26 (+1) 1953 S.....7 1954........17 1954 D.....49 (+2) 1954 S.....13 (+2) 1955........5 1955 D.....34 1956........30 (+3) 1956 D.....31 1957........27 1957 D.....46 (+4) 1958........10 1958 D.....73 (+2) 1959........8 (+1) 1959 D.....66 (+2) 2009 D.....7 2009 P.....7

It wasn't roll searching but today I was walking outside and found a 1956-d Wheat penny just laying on the ground. I decided that was a good sign so I stuck my head into a local flea market I have been considering checking out and found a 1945-P War Nickel for $.75 in their junk coin basket!

Holy mackerel! That *is* indeed a beautiful 1950-D!
Must have been from someone's cashed in collection, as it looks like it spent most of its life somewhere safe.
Congrats! :-)

It's always great to find a Wheat cent, and any kind of junk silver for under spot. And Sich0015, excellent job on finding the 1950D nickel!

Thanks TheDanMan. I have slowed down this year on buying so finding little cheap ways to add some pieces is fun and a new way for me to collect within my budget. Obviously neither are worth a bunch of money or anything amazing (I am super jealous of that 1950-d) but it keeps this hobby fun.

Well I did two boxes this week. Not a good sign. I think I'm starting a skunk streak. The two boxes together yielded no War Nickels and less then 30 keepers. This is on top of the other three previous boxes that have yielded no War Nickel. Hopefully this will turn around tomorrow! Nice find for the 1950D! Thats beautiful.
