Die movement or bounce damages the coin. Pretty common to find these. Proof coins are struck two or more times. Doubled die coins are not caused by a double strike. The hub doubling on the die, makes the coins struck by that die are doubled dies. If it were a doubled die then one or both sides maybe affected. Machine damage can alter one or both sides of a coin. LOL I still have questions on some, but thanks to you and a few others, I don't question the obvious ones! I have read over and over about how dies are made and how doubled dies occur. I'm still not totally sure about everything, but I sure do appreciated this forum and the information. I would suggest new collectors read, read, read and read some more. I know I will.
