I just came across this 2004 $50 star note alongside this 2013 $20 star note from the same S.A. any info would be appreciated.

I'm not a currency expert but I do know that neither one are rare. Both notes have a run size of 3,200,000 and a total print of 4,480,000.

Because of the condition and the high SN, as well as not being a low run you can spend them.

Condition will make them a difficult sell. IMO, you'd be lucky to recoup your seller fees.
