I did an overlay with the original 8 and the extra 8 and the sizes match up. Feel free to do an overlay yourself with the pics provided.. can anyone confirm this? Report this Post to the Staff

Chase007 Pillar of the Community United States 7527 Posts	Posted 08/17/2018 2:56 pm There have been numerous examples of such ( extra letter, star,number)seen on the edge of golden dollars and just like large font, small font, flat font, matte edge finish there have not been a solid explanation of the cause given by experts,but one explanation for the extra device on the edge which made sense was a broken piece of a die falling in the edge lettering chamber and getting struck onto the next coins edge!
