1943 S/S Or Zinc Build Up ? - Coin Community Forum

Dissapointed that his different styles of mintmarks didn't pan out for him. Still looking. All I've found so far is this. This is one of those shiny zinc coated coins so I'm not sure if this is S over S or just a zinc build up around the mintmark. The 4 looks a little odd also. Opinions welcomed. Hope you find it Regarding this coin, I don't know about the zinc build up, not sure, but what makes me wonder about the s over s possibility is the upper and lower serifs. There appears to be two of them side by side along with an outline of a second S- are they rounded or more flat like a md would be? I'd try and get closer pics if possible. The 4 looks like its worn in that spot. I'd say lets wait for Bill and or Chuck for a more definitive answer on this. Report this Post to the Staff
