1922 Peace With Interesting Strike - Coin Community Forum

Stephen-P Valued Member Japan 294 Posts	Posted 10/01/2020 08:21 am Just got a new of haul in recently and this beauty stood out to me. It looks dirty, but has a silky/mossy toning and solid flash that I've never seen on a Peace before. The fields are incredibly flat with no mushiness around the devices, and no cartwheel. Usually, 1922 B1 reverse types tend to have a sharper strike, but this one is sharper imo despite it being the more common B2. Great details and strike...the reverse kind of looks like she was in a bag covered by others with just the sw portion exposed? Maybe the obverse was facing down on the bag protecting the surface...and the environment they sat in crept in causing the silky/mossy toning? Great coin! I actually picked this one up in a lot that had some Morgans with similar toning, so you're probably right about that. I'm curious about the lack of die cracks, but there is a ton of very fine polishing lines. Maybe it's a one of the first struck coins of some new dies. Report this Post to the Staff
