Suzannemurrey New Member United States 9 Posts	Posted 11/19/2020 12:28 pm I found a 2014 penny where the D looks like it was imprinted twice but I can't be sure I will try to attach a good picture but I am still very new at this and still don't know what I'm doing okay well I am having fun the only way I can even see my coins or to take a picture and enlarge though I appreciate everybody's feedback thank you Report this Post to the Staff

If you are speaking to the elevated planchet inside the D and not the zinc rot, this happens for a variety of reasons. Think of taking your fingers through the sand, as you move your finger, a rift of sand goes up in the trail behind. Same concept here, the imprint is a single squeeze imprint, and the metal when stamped can rise above. May be wrong, my I cent of knowledge here, also possible die gouge. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 11/19/2020 8:12 pm Actually the shape is not the same as this coins mintmark. Just a stain. Not a RPM. If it were a mintmark, it would be: 1. Raised not level with the fields. 2. Being that there are no RPMs after 1990, then it would have to be a doubled die, not a RPM. But if it were a DDO, where is the rest of the design that would correspond to the devices of the die? So it is not a variety coin. Just a normal design with a stain that looks like something it is not. Report this Post to the Staff
