I think it's either from Lao or more likely Cambodia (is that Ankor Watt?) - but I don't know which actual coin.

What threw me off the track was when svslav replied to "Thailand" as "too easy".

So we have chedis, an elephant and some Thai script that says "kung siam" (country of Siam).

It must be Thai but I have no idea what. From the clarity of the images I'd go for modern. As I have most commemorative 10 baht coins from King Rama IX I'd go for a commemorative (non-circulating) 20, 50, 100 or higher denomination. There are lots listed in Krauss but no images.

Best I can do.

I did everything I could to send you on a wild goose chase, and apparently I was successful.

I knew thai-vic would be able to read it so I was deliberate in what part of the legend I'd choose.

Let me know when you're ready to give up.

Wouldn't surprise me if it turned out fo be a Liberian coin. I haven't seen one such, though.

I know where this is coming from.

OK, I've tortured you enough, it's about time I put you on a right track. Litotes' quote above is away from the truth by a single (!) letter.

Sorry, I meant to write "to" and not "fo"

One letter off "Liberia" does not translate to any known coin producing entity I have ever heard of, I hope the hint will prove more helpful to others. Only thing making geographical sense to me would be "Iberia" but this does not look like a Spanish or Portuguese coin. I tried Gibraltar but came up empty.

I didn't even notice it was "typoed". I guess, with this in mind that's two letters.

I looked at some Siberian but all they have is mammoths :)

Liberia will put anything on their coins but I couldn't find anything like this.

Iberian and tiberian both sort of work and both have elephants but dang they are old :)

Had a great time looking. Must have learn a least dozen things.

Well done svslav I reckon you are the first to have us all flummoxed (good old English word meaning totally and utterly beaten).
Unless anybody else has an objection please put us (an utterly selfish, me) out of our (my) misery!

It was the Iberian peninsula after all, Portugal to be exact. I started a new thread where I feature the coin.
