I like it! Nothing better than an unmolested surface!

As for the coin itself, I love it. To my eye, the toning is very appealing, but that's all personal preference.

Your call on the album. I would put It in my type book without thought, it's just up to what you want your set to look like. Throw it in there and show us some pics of your album!

My 7070 is all slabbed (which I would have this one done also), my "album" is in a couple of trays in a Pelican case.

I like the coin very much. Nice patina. As for grade, I would guess AU-53. It has some wear in places like the knee and feathers but IMO not enough luster or lack of wear to bring it up to the higher AU grades. Nice strike though. It is up to you if you want to get it or not but I think it would be a worth addition.

It *might* do 55; 53 is a better guesstimate. Either way, for my eyes, an absolute keeper. Ten times out of ten.

I also think AU53 and an absolute keeper!! The colors on the reverse alone are worth keeping!

I would worry about everything in your 7070 matching up. IMO, this one has a place in anyone's 7070!!

oih82w8,

Which one did you end up buying. The half or the Half Cent?

The half is stunning in my opinion .... you just don't see them very often with this eye appeal!

I think AU50/53 on this coin, but still a lovely piece.

Not to worry, another piece will be along soon. Since you're going for a type coin to fill the 7070 slot there are many dates that will satisfy.

As far as this one is concerned, I agree it's an AU, but on the lower end of the AU range. Toning looks dark but would probably have been OK as long as underlying luster was still present. I'd have preferred a coin with a lighter color overall.

Good luck on the search!
