Welcome to CC!

Your coin is what we call a "slider", meaning it could grade from AU to MS. Many such coins are very difficult to grade, especially from pictures. You often have to check for the slight sign of rub on the design high points and evaluate the luster.

Your first set of pictures are a little over-exposed. The second pic you posted is probably more representative of the coin. To me, it looks to be MS-62/63. I would probably not pay to have this coin slabbed as the cost is just too high compared to the benefit.....especially if it comes back AU. If you want a slabbed example, sell this one and buy one already slabbed. It will save you $$$ in the end.

really confused coin. it doesn't know if it is EF, AU or MS. the more I look at it, the more confused I get. the beard, bow and left stalk are saying EF but the color is saying MS. I'm going to go with MS62 on the notion that the strike was a little weaker than normal and its not from circulation wear.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm not very good at taking close up photos I suppose. I attempted a few more with different lighting, not sure it helps any. As far as getting it slabbed, is the general consensus, not worth the money? PCGS estimates an MS63 between $220-265, ebay sales are $150-250. That's assuming it makes the grade. Either way, appreciate the feedback!

That new photo of the obverse shows a beautiful coin, better pictures are a must when grading coins.

It defiantly shows a MS-62/3 coin IMO..

Looks MS63RB and I do think it would be worth getting certified.

I wanted to comment on your photography in case you're looking for some help.

Try lowering the resolution on your camera. It will help with the resize of your pictures. Using a 6MP camera and PaintShop Pro I can get just under 100k. I adjust pics to somewhere around 780x780. Here's an example (notice the size):

Try to NEVER manipulate your images except to resize. Tweeking with software is cheating IMO. You need to get the best look naturally using light angles/position and camera distance. Personally, I freehand shoot from an almost constant position, but I move my light around a lot to bring out the coin. My setup is VERY simple and cheap. Just add a piece of copy paper.

Lowering the resolution, I ought to try that. I had it way up on my camera. I'll take a few photos of other nice wheaties and post them later today. Funny story, I bought an old dansco album online for cheap, mostly because I needed #8100 (the proofs version), and it came in with several beautiful uncirculated cents. The rarest being the 1931-s. So major luck on that purchase. I'll post some of the others later today!

Nice Lincolns! I really like the 31-D!

Pics are looking good, you're getting it down. All of them are good enough for web/grading purposes. CONGRATS!
