HA, HA, Supgog, I was bidding on some of these too! So I will refrain from posting the price you paid as I know exactly to the penny what you outbid me for! LOL. Others I was watching so I'll let others guess. There are still in my watch list under ended. Is the 1868 an RPD it looked like the first 1 was repunched.

1866 - EF40 details surface damage
1868 - VF25 details scratched
1869 - F15 details scratched
1871 - G4 details reverse graffiti

I like the '69 the best. Did the seller offer his opinion of the grades? Would be interested in hearing the price too, if you feel comfortable staying. West own: I don't see the scratching so much on the 1869, why a details grade?

1) $20
2) $25
3) $35
4) $18

From the shield down into the rim right of the date on the obverse. It is a scratch and not just a discoloration spot, you can see the metal was moved. Also two whacks above the date to the left of the 1 and over the 9 (smaller) on the right side. Any TPG would probably detail grade for those hits alone, nevermind the scratch.

West: thanks for pointing that out. I did not see the scratch going from the shield to the rim. The other nicks seem fairly small around the date. It is interesting that a detail grade does not tell the whole story. For example I would much prefer this '69 coin to one with graffiti, such as the '71 with the letter F cut into it.

the 1869 was my favorite in the bunch too, and one of my favorite years of Two Cent Pieces.

1. 1866 -- F-15 details. $15
2. 1868 -- F-12 details. $18
3. 1869 -- VG-10. $26
4. 1871 -- G-4 details. $18

Not sure the scratch on the 69 would warrant a details grade on a coin this low grade. Group deal $65-70 is my guess.

jpbone - you're too harsh on the grades .

Prices were 17.5$, 20$, 20$ and 10$ respectively.
Coins were bought on individual auctions, so no lot discount here.

Westcoin - sorry for stealing the coins.

Thanks for the post. I like the 1869 and $20 seems like a decent deal. It was the year pro baseball started, allegedly.
