Great coins. Did you get a chance to weigh them?

Thanks. I got them from my Dad who was an avid coin collector. Should I have them graded? Smallcentguy, I'll check out the coin expo.

Beautiful examples. I wonder who was drinking on the job when they were minted.
Congratz!

o-train I didn't weigh them. I haven't the scales. If I sell, I'll definitely come here.

Any idea on the value?
Thanks again to everyone for your input.

I would guess the left hand coin would fetch $200 on ebay, the one on the right a little less. But you might get lucky. The right hand coin looks like it might be silver. Is that tarnish on the rim?

Thanks. I can't quite make out if it's tarnish.

Do either of them stick to a magnet? If so, it is nickel.....if not, it is silver.
Nice coins by the way.

They both stick to a magnet. So I guess that rules out silver. How rare are they?

Rare is a very mis-used word in numismatics, try an ebay search using that as a keyword, for example. They are uncommon, but from 1968 to 1979, they can be found in all kinds of grades. They are much more common than the larger denomination coins, for example you rarely see 50c struck on 25c planchets, and so on... Two months ago, ASYN on ebay sold one graded MS-64 of the most common date (1979), in a PCGS holder, for about $300 (PCGS grading of errors is a $75 cost/investment, which has to be factored in).
