It certainly isn't my domain, not that I really have one. I would have said an excellent XF.
But what the heck happened to the 8 and the L in Dollar? It looks like someone stole the 8 to make another coin. If we grind off every 8 we come across we'll have an extra dollar in no time.
I don't love it but I certainly don't hate it. I wouldn't want one or I might get the bug.

Need an accurate weight.
How much does it weigh?

sel_69, the coin is in a PCGS slab, so no way I can get an accurate weight, but there are no concerns of authenticity either. This is a very heavily counterfeited type though, but the counterfeits that come in for grading dont have die clash marks, or so I was told by an NGC grader.

Nice AU 53 coin.

The toning is caused by chemical reaction with the 10% copper in the coin.

Ah, so the copper does cause the toning, thanks, guys!

AU-53 for me, please.

I prefer the bright gold color versus toned. But I also like to think about the coin's story that the tone alludes to.

AU53, I've seen gold coins tone or more of a patina, possibly from an improper mix of copper in the gold alloy mix.

I also think this is an AU coin, I would be in the AU-55 camp. I really like the look, it adds some character to the coin!

I will stick with AU-53 but would not be surprised if it graded AU-55.

PCGS grade is AU-58. This issue is usually weakly struck and lackluster due to the method of minting.
