I'm wavering between 63 and 64, I'll say MS 63.

I don't think they would give a grade to a coin that scuffed up, would they? It's got MS wear, but just too much other stuff happing to put it in the Mint State category. But then again, I've only familiar with the Charlton grading system.

AU55, that's wear on the ear and jaw.

At first I was thinking MS ... but then I thought AU as it looks from the photos like there's a difference in luster from the details to the fields...

Obviously a 38 coin. What's interesting is what macro photography reveals. The messy fields and cheek are not visible in this way via eye or glass.

Shafta9a got it right. ICCS AU58. This was a coin sent to ICCS on behalf of a client. As many here, we both though the coin would grade MS63/64. The picture was taken when the coin came back at which point we better understood the grade. Although we both thought 58 was harsh and a 60 would have been more appropriate after seeing the photographs.

And I think AU58 is too generous, too much wear on that one. Such is internet grading.

Although I have read the entire post and know the answer, I would have guessed ICCS would be anywhere between au55 and ms62.

I think the coin is properly graded at au58.

I must say, I'm shocked at the posters who say it should be ms63 or ms64.... actually as I'm typing this, I'm barely conscious, falling halfway off my chair and in desperate need of oxygen.
