the 8113 they show on their site, stops at 2005. They have several blank spots on the last page.

I went to look at the Dansco site as well as a few ebay sellers of Dansco products. I discovered that it's quite a nice racket that Dansco has. Here's what they've done. Back in 2002, when the pages in Album 8113 ended, they sold an add-on page-6 that covered 2002 to 2011(including proofs). As I recall I had to order one and after shipping it came to around $9. NOW Dansco's solution is to render that page 6 obsolete by creating a new page 6 that covers 2002 to 2005 with the remainder of the page being blank holes. They would have me punch all of the coins out and transfer them to the new page 6. My remaining Unc & Proof coins are to be put into the new Jefferson nickels Album #8114 which holds the coins from 2006 onwards to 2016.
So, a complete Jefferson nickel Collection from 1938 to date (including proof issues) requires the collector to purchase 2 Albums as well as 2 supplementary pages. What a rip-off. They could have done the logical and most customer friendly option of simply making a new album that starts at 2012. That's where all of our #8113 albums stopped. What a scam.

Ooops! I forgot to respond to Bm0ney. Yes Bm0ney, that is exactly what I intend to do. I just bought a blank nickel page on ebay for $5 and I'll just squeze it into my #8113 for now.

Dansco does not have a website. The website you are referring to is a reseller that is not affiliated with Dansco.

If I had checked their "fine print" (aka FAQ)

So what's everyone doing? Adding a blank page #7 in their 8113 (there is room for a 7th page as people have pointed out) or just buying 8114?

I'm torn. I will probably take a two-tiered approach... use my existing replacement page 6 (to 2011) and add the blank page for the next few years until it's full. Then replace the original page 6 in my 8113 (which goes to 2005) and then move the 2006+ to the new album. Of course, we're talking 5+ years from now.

Thoughts?

Hi Celticknot, I was starting to think I was the only one that's at least a tiny bit annoyed or inconvenienced.

Angielczyk...the address in their albums is: 4313 W.Jefferson in Los Angeles, Zip: 90016.

Dansco products really are excellent quality which makes it all the more odd that they have such poor to non-existent customer service. I too will just be adding a blank nickel page to my #8113 (purchased for $6.80 including s/h on ebay) which will provide a home for my shiny Jeffersons for another decade. As CelticKnot pointed out...take the "wait & see" approach. I'll make the final decision many years later when we can see if Jefferson nickels are even still being made.

You are not the first, you are not the last. Yours truly even fell for it once.

I actually have a 7113 and I added a page for the proofs. The album have five pages now and cannot hold any more (it is an older, thinner binder). It is slam full of nickels!

I was reluctant to upgrade the binder to add a page to this or any of the other "full" albums. What I have done instead is create what I call my custom "ultra-modern" album. It has blank pages for cents, nickels, and dimes. Once the original albums were full, I started adding the new releases to this new album.

I love this idea! My Cent, Nickel, & Dime Dansco Albums end with 2012. I didn't want to buy 3 new albums for just a few coins. Now if the composition of the coins change next year that would be even better.

Thanks Guys. I've been collecting since last March and have built up the following Dansco Albums:
Ikes with Proof - Completed
SBA with Proof - Missing 2
Lincoln Cents with Proof
Jefferson nickel with Proof (Added page for 1954-1973 Proof. SMS, and Satin mint set) - Missing 6
Roosevelt dimes with Proof (Added page for 1964-back Proof, SMS, Satin)
Generic Dimes - (Barb, Merc)
Washington quarters with Proof (added pages for SMS and older Proofs)

I'm having a great time so far and this has been one of my favorite sites to read

You have a nice collection.

I am glad to see the Eisenhower dollar album is complete (Some would say that I have a thing for them).

Im probably in the minority but I'm calling it quits when the 8113 is completed. The new nickels just dont do it for me. If I was to go on though I would get a new album since you would have to at some point and its easier to move a few coins or find a 2nd coin then try and move everything when you get to the point of not being able to add more pages

One more reason I like Whitman Albums. And for communication with a manufacturer, Whitman is great for that.
