It's not like it's a MS-66 St Gaudens or something. Just wrap it in a bag, stuff it in a sock and throw it in your suitcase. It will be fine. It's a nice coin, but it's probably worth less than the pair of pants you'll also be carrying in your suitcase.

The original poster is now obligated to reply with what he actually did and how the coin faired. To do any less risks angering the coin gods; a picture might further appease them.

True, although not by much. Thank you coupon! Quote: The original poster is now obligated to reply with what he actually did and how the coin faired. It survived the harrowing uneventful journey in a plastic bag in the pocket of the very jeans described above. It now resides in a flip with my other non-proof ASE. I'm planning on moving it to an airtite when I buy some later this week. Quote: He would be horrified to see my pocket piece.. Why not throw a pic up here? I don't mind pocket pieces. EDIT: The new one is on the left.

Jason lent me the pants. He was in Hollywood and disappointed that he couldn't make it.

Quote: denco7: Just put it in a box, and mark " Valuable coin inside, Please handle with care " Then just check it with your luggage, it will be ok Personally I would never do that is check baggage. There is just to much theft from check baggage to put an identifying note as to "valuable coins" on a box of any type. I'd most likely do what the OP did and stuff it inside of something that was dirty and nasty that the TSA or baggage handlers wouldn't want to touch. Other than that put in in carry on baggage and see if the TSA want to inspect the baggage. If not, then you're home free. If they do, you a there watching them paw through your things. The most fun that I had (innocently) was to bring back some wax candles wrapped in a paper bag that contained an alarm clock, batteries, and some wire. Boy did they want to talk to me. There was nothing dangerous in the bag but they did want to talk to me. The wax candles were for the wife, the batteries were taken out an AM radio, and the alarm clock is just that. They were not please with me at all. As Shakespeare said in one of his plays "alls well that ends well".

Or white office printer paper, tape around or rubberband.
I'm a ramp agent, fancy word for baggage handler for a major US airline and not even I would ever transport coins unless it was in my carry-on.
