Yeah, it's beyond fishy. The truck just happened to break down, and the guys weren't shot or killed? It must have been planned for a long time.

Someone from the company was involved for sure. If the guards weren't involved, why get out of the truck. Halfway point, rural area, and car trouble...right.

WOW! 2 guards? Maybe an inside job as others have stated here at CCF, I'm sure the authorities are all over this angle. Shortly after dusk along a lonely stretch of Interstate 95, armed robbers hijacked an armored truck, tied up the two guards and disappeared into the night with 275 pounds of gold bars. The guards working for Transvalue Inc. of Miami reported pulling off to the side of the interstate about 6:30 p.m. Sunday after their vehicle began having mechanical problems in eastern North Carolina, according to the Wilson County Sheriff's Office. The guards told police they were surprised by three armed men driving a white van who ordered the guards to lie on the ground, tied their hands behind their backs and then marched them into nearby woods. The robbers then helped themselves to barrels filled with about $4.8 million in gold before making their getaway. Transvalue said its employees were not injured during the heist. 911 Calls on the heist: http://www.wcvb.com/news/911-caller...way/31598320USA Today report: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...na/24264801/Local news report: http://www.wcvb.com/news/4-million-...ina/31565516

The only positive thing about this Hollywood-esque stunt is that no one was hurt.
Thanks for the update, Buddy.

I was convinced it was an inside job -- maybe not so much.
Anyway -- only one gold bar has been recovered....

I just re-read that article and it seriously has the makings for a movie. Crazy!

It does read like a movie plot -- especially the part about the remote control pepper spray. I need one of those gadgets to keep the raccoons off my roof.
