1962 Proof Set, Updated With Pics!

I have cracked plenty of proof sets in my day.

However, I should mention that this only applies to modern (1968 to date) proof sets. I have no need for 1964 and earlier proof coins coins since the Dansco albums have no specific holes them (with the exception of the 8166 Kennedy half dollar album).

Intact modern sets from the late 1990's onward should carry no premium. Since these lenses can be opened and closed at will, there is no guarantee they are, in fact, original.

All of that being said, I wold be hesitant, even reluctant, to crack coins out of the original packaging from any 1964 and earlier proof set. Then again, it is very unlikely I would ever care to acquire one from that era.

nice early proof set. you just took me back to my early collecting days when I bought them directly from the mint at $2.10 per set. with 100 sets max. per household. oh yeah this is when the mint wasn't hog wild into making a big profit after realizing that collectors will buy anything new from the mint.
