Someone Doesn't Understand What A "Details" Grade Is

The one being sold is one of the "specimen" strikes that were on polished blanks. Thus the attribution of "polished" on the ANACS slab. It's estimated that only 50 of these were struck. I don't think you'll find these specimen strikes on any of the typical online price guide pages.

Even if it is rare, he still should have acknowledged the fact that it has a 'details' grade.

Now I ask anyone here If I had this same coin up on ebay for the same price how many of you here would argue that this is one of 50 known special presentation strikes?

There is nothing on that label that designates it as anyhting other than a Details coin. My bet is to a man you would all say I was crazy to ask that money for a details coin.

I don't care who is selling it or their level of expertise, I wouldn't buy it unless ANACS states that.

ANACS should have been more clear in the description, but they may not agree it is one of the 50 presentation pieces in how the label is written.

Thank you TBone for going to the source, I've known Julian for a long time myself, he and I are Facebook friends too, and I know he has so much experience in pattern coins, more so than most dealers. I would not want to say it's not a presentation piece, but then, I'm no expert in commemoratives, nor this particular coin variety. It is only Julian's opinion that this coin is one of the 50 presentation coins issued, I'd give him and his years of experience the benefit of the doubt then, not a coin I'd personally buy anyways.
