I have never reused a 2x2 flap I like my 2x2 to be neat, and with coins in them

The only used 2x2s that I typically have are from coins I have purchased in 2x2s that I will either put in an album or I will put it in a new 2x2 with my writing on it. I have never reused a 2x2. I just toss them in the recycle bin.

Yes. Over the course of many years, I've come to possess enough foreign coins that I thought I might see just how many different countries were represented. I found 90. Some countries had hundreds of samples, so I decided to start a World Coin Collection. My goal is to have one coin from each country, alphabetized in a large 3-ring binder. As I go around to the various caches, I gather the coins, bathe them in acetone, put them in the 2x2 and add a label. Shortly thereafter, I find a bigger and better example to represent Slobovia. I'm now close to 150 countries, behind in my spreadsheet updates, but have recycled many 2x2s. Staples not required (yet) and they are easy to remove for taking pictures.

Quote: Staples not required (yet) and they are easy to remove for taking pictures. It looks clean without the staples. That has me wondering if that might actually work with tight fitting holders.

The only problem has been with small and thin coins - they can shift.

Not only do I reuse 2x2's - I reuse the staples and crimp them flat with a pair of pliers!

I re-use them ONLY if I don't have a slab (world premier) to put them in. So I usually take the coin out, do my photography thing and then reuse until the slabs arrive. Then the coin gets removed again, and the 2x2 (don't cringe now) gets thrown away...

Hey Jbuck... funny thing is I keep new 2x2s in stock so if I don't have a slab ready I can at least protect the coins that come without 2x2s...

That is a good idea. Better safe than sorry.

I reuse them if they are in good shape and I know the coin in it before was bathed in acetone. I have some very old ones that have a different "feel" to the plastic. These get dumped b/c I do not know if the coins in them were "acetone-ized."

The only reason I would see I would ever reuse a 2x2, since I put the coins in the 2x2s I have is that I find a reason to better protect the coin in it now, which is only proof halves found in halves boxes from the bank. I would probably then jsut throw 40% Kennedeys in them then.

No. And I have 2X2's that are self-sealing which I love! Basically one time use (aren't they all?) and no staples.
