IMO, Dansco albums are better quality than Whitman albums.
I am not saying Whitman albums are bad, I just think Dansco are better.
I have tried Whitman, Intercept Shield and Littleton albums. Everytime I end up switching and buying the Dansco.
I have never seen a slip cover for a Whitman album.

As you probably noticed there are numerous yes and no about Whitman. Here is some of my observations. 1. Whitman Albums are made in China. Dansco is made in the USA 2. Dansco, Whitman, Littleton, etc. are all basically made similar. They all last for long times. 3. Whitman has slots at the end of pages making it easy to pull out slides. Dansco does not and it is sometimes tuff to get them out. Some say wet your fingers and push but that means getting moisture where there should not be. 4. Whiman does not have slip covers that I know of. 5. Dansco is owned by Dansco. Whitman is owned by Harris and Harris makes Harris brand and USMint Brand Albums. 6. People like to brag about how expensive a Dansco Album looks and then hide them away. 7. Copper coins just do not stand out in a Brownish Dansco Album. 8. Dansco Albums normally have empty slots at the end for no reason. Whitman pages are made so when complete, no empty spaces. 9. Almost all of the above are approximately the same price. 10. And availability is something you would have to look into yourself.

Thanks so much everyone. Do you think that a dansco slip cover would work with a whitman album?
I just dont want the album to get dusty etc if I get one.

A Dansco slipcover will not fit a Whitman album, they are the wrong size. But if you have dust issues, you got bigger problems than what a slipcover will solve anyway. The slipcover is really just an added layer of protection for the album so it doesn't get worn on the ends, etc. You don't want your coins in a dusty environment, period.
I have both Whitman and Dansco albums. I think the Dansco albums are a little more substantial looking but they are bulkier too. I like the size and layout of the Whitman albums - it's really just preference, I think both are good.

Good list, carl!
I have both Whitmans and Danscos. I like the blue of the Whitmans and the typeface they use better than the Danscos, but they're both fine albums.

djx , I keep my Whitman albums in food storage zip-lock bags (gallon size). no dust or anything else getting in there. and the bags do not contain PVC.

Sort of forgot about the gallon size Zip Lock bags. I too use those for almost all my Albums. For special Albums, like my #1 Mercury dime Album, a Whitman, I double the Zip Lock bags just to make sure. In addition to my previous statements: 11. Whitman makes and sells press on number/letter sheets. IF you use a page with nothing on it, you can use those to make your own info. 12. Go to the Whitman web site and request a catalog. There you can see all the Albums, Folders, flips, books, etc. that they publish. 13. Dansco Albums are taller than either Whitman, Harris, USMint or Littleton. Pending the size of shelves in a book case, may make a difference. 14. Many Whitman Albums are big enough to add numerous additional pages. I do that with many of mine making a two Album, Album. For example Indian Head cents #1 and #2 in the same Album. Easy to make using their blank pages and those press on letters/numbers. 15. Availability of any of those mentioned here may well depend on the stores near you or the coin shows you go to. Even some on line dealers have some but not all. 16. Additional or replacement slides are really something to acquire in any brand.

If I know I'm going to store any album, folder or rolled change for a while, I use my food saver. It's great for moisture/dust protection. It also saves a lot of space when storing rolled coins.

Zip Lock also makes a two gallon size. Most Danscos will not fit in the one gallon size, at least not with the slipcover included.

So a two gallon zip lock would work with a whitman album? Also Would I have to put those little packets in the bag to keep the moisture out?

It would. although you might be able to get the Whitmans in a one gallon bag. They are just a little bit smaller than the Danscos which almost fit into the one gallon ones but not quite.
What I do is put the album in the smallest bag that it will fit into, put a desiccant pack in the bag and then press all the air out of it. Then I put it in the safe and have two desiccant packs in the safe. I use the packs with indicators on them so I can tell when they need to be recharged.
The packs in the bags last pretty long but the ones in the safe need to be recharged more often. As others have said, the safe is not completely air tight so you are fighting a losing battle, but I try anyway!
After about 5 recharges, I throw out the packs and buy new.

I use the one gallon size for all my Whitman Albums. For ones with really great coins I use a double Zip Lock bag. By that I mean I put the Album in a Zip Lock bag, fold over the excess and then put that end in a second Zip Lock bag. I use the one gallon sizes for all my Whitman Albums. Even the Lincoln Cent ones with 10 pages. I never use those moisture Moisture packets since very little moisture can get in and I open them so often, would not be worth the trouble. So far in many, many years, never had a thing go wrong.
