Good catch, Dave. The reverse clash certainly looks the part. You're not lying about EDS, though, this must have been very early as almost none of the other die cracks seem to have developed.

After reading the link to a discussion this may technically be a VAM-1. (see my edit above as well)

The 1921's have always been among the hardest to accurately attribute a VAM to, for me. They seem to have way more varieties than most dates, and people find new combinations of VAMs and die states all the time (even VW's die crack guide is probably only partially complete at best.)

ms-62ish.. *edit why am I so far off from everyone else? are these reverses espically known for weak strikes? or is this a slider? I see some rub on the reverse on the breast and legs..

Quote: are these reverses espically known for weak strikes Yes, in fact, they are, particularly at the center.

even with that, I went and photograded on PCGS..my opinion is still MS62ish. by that I mean I expect it to grade within a point of that. I'm not very experienced so I'm

Like I said, I expected most of CCF to get this right, and you folks didn't disappoint as usual! PCGS MS-63: 1921-D is a bit of an enigma in the Morgan series. Despite being very common (in comparison to most of the pre-1921 issues) it is tough to find examples in MS65 or better, and MS66-MS67 are mega-jumps in price.

Took my own pictures with coin in hand, better looking than I thought. Reverse is gorgeous. Obverse is why it's a 63. Set her up with some "Friends" for a quick glamour shot.
