Mercury Dime Set Minus 1916-D In Dansco Album

Getting pics of obv. and rev. of all the coins in album might not be feasible for seller. if your able to , I would go to location where the mercs are. checking them in hand, if feasible for you.

It is local, so I would go in person to see the coins up close. I would meet in a public place, yes. Thanks everyone for the comments and advice. I have done about 10 Craigslist deals with good success (well under melt for US 90%, Canadian 80% and .925 proofs, Venezuelan Bolivars,etc.), have posted about some of them in the precious metals forum. The seller had 26(!) Dansco albums listed (more than I thought) I read the listed coins for each, and most albums were priced a bit high, but not so high that a little bargaining might not result in a nice deal. I will keep you posted, but I may wait a month or so until I have more free cash, and by then they may be sold.

A coin dealer was murdered here in Tampa area who met some guy in a motel room to buy coins. What is the fun of buying sets of coins you don't collect yourself?

You guys including OP are just assuming the mercs. are in VF or better. but what if they were AG-F , now who will be running for this pick up. maybe a scam maybe not.

Today I saw the coins, a decent but not exceptional lot. Have not made an offer yet.
1921 is decent G (letters readable, though not quite as clear as I would like), 1921-D is G, but it has some kind up chopmark on the reverse.
1918-D and 1926-D are EF, worth around $20 each retail, but are not easy dates to flip
Did not find 45-micro S, 42 or 42-D/41, 1919 double die, or 1923-inverted S.
Here is how I would value it: melt for 76 dimes = about $80, but it is hard to get 90% at melt + there are a few early EF goodies included, so I might go a bit more and still feel good, say $85. The Dansco album is worth something too, I would add $5 for that, so we are up to $90. I consider the 21-D a problem coin, and conservatively estimate that I could sell the 21 and 21-D to a dealer for $40 total at a coin show. ( Red Book is $145 for the two coins in G, If the 21-D was clean I would assume I could get $75 for the two. Perhaps I could ebay them, and get more, but it is more work, and I would want to sell that 21-D QUICKLY) So I figure I could comfortably pay up to $130, sell the 21 and 21-D, set aside the 18-D and 26-D for possible future sale, and add the rest to my 90% stash. If were able to get say $60 for 1921/21-D, then $130 for the lot would be a GREAT deal.

I paid 175? for mine, sight seen, with some nice album toned VF-XF later dates, 21 in G and 21-D in AG, F or better on the other semi keys. No 16-D, micro s, overdate or DDO. I combined it with my other album which was about 80% complete with a lot of XF-AU coins and made a single album using the best coins, and stuck the rest in 2x2's. Could probably flip the new combined set for 300 but I buy to collect, not to resell.

Mercury dimes are in a slump, at least auction-wise, except for top pop & registry FB coins which are continuing to spike especially with CAC stickers. The market for mid MS FB's and non FB's is weak, probably because people are now spoiled by all of those 67 and 68 graded examples thanks to slab grade inflation. I can search and find 65 FB's of more common dates in ogh's and flat packs and watch them not sell for days or weeks, but someone lists a 67FB or 67/68 no FB and it sells quick. The market on circulated coins is down too even in keys and semi-keys with the 1921 in solid problem free AG-G now easily available for under $40. Dates which are scarce with FB are still strong sellers in all grades.
