Hahahaha nice one.

My guess would be you work in a rough trade? and somehow smashed them in your pocket. Looks like repeatedly.

You sat on a cement wall like a bench in little puddle of acid rain on a hot day. Where the coins started to get hot and acid soaked. A few hours latter you where thrown or jumped out a moving car during a high speed chase with the coins in back pocket roll down the street or alley getting road rash on the coins. You then threw the jeans in the wash where they spun around with harsh chemicals before they went threw customs or luggage check where they and threw you bag around for fun.

I am pretty sure these things happen because its always in movies...

Post pocket damage. These did not magically "melt", or become disfigured, from Las Vegas heat.

You know I really think we're on the verge of working this one out!! Buddy - Although this seems the most logical scenario, I cannot believe I never noticed beforehand ... Vegas will always remain a mysterious place to me

As the jokesters have suggested, there are a lot of reasons why you didn't notice these damaged coins. I would add jet lag and the extreme heat.

Weigh them and compare to other inexpensive metals. If some one was counterfeiting, Vegas might be the place to pass them.

Simplest answer is they looked like that when he put them IN his pocket and then went for a walk.

I think we need to consider the possibility that it actually happened in the wallet. I know full well some of those women can make your jaw drop, eyes bug out, and put "dark" thoughts in you head. Mebbe the same thing happened to old George. Just being dead 218 years doesn't mean you're blind.

Oh sorry. Just having fun and didn't notice you're a newbie.

Welcome aboard. Cu/ ni is a pretty hard and durable material. Someone gave you these in change and mebbe they shuldda stayed in Vegas.
