As an outsider for whom American coins are exotic, foreign things, my votes would go:

1: Saint-Gaudens $20. Hey, it's artistic, and who doesn't like a huge hunk o' gold?

2: For those who can't afford a huge hunk o' gold, my second place goes to the humble 2¢ piece. Simple, elegant, and a reminder that coins can completely lack a portrait of any kind and still look cool.

3: The Leif Ericson millennium dollar of 2000 gets third overall, and my vote as best US commemorative coin.

Morgan Dollar. If the Saint-Gaudens was silver instead of gold or the Morgan was gold instead of silver I think we know where the voting would lie. However collecting is personal preference and you like what you like even if you can't afford them.

I would have to say the Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle first and Walking Liberty a close second.

Well since I just recently got it........ THE NEW BALD EAGLE COMMERATIVE SILVER DOLLAR ! I could NOT stop admiring it ! Man ! That is one beautiful coin fellas and ladies ! I tell you !
Maybe mine would grade a perfect 70 and "deep cameo" I really don't know but, .......(what do they say....one in a hundred proofs will actually grade that or something?) I'm not having it graded at this time, but it is SOOOOOO ATTRACTIVE ! Even if you HATE ultra moderns or commeratives.......GO GET THAT COIN AND HOLD IT........YOU'LL BE "DRAWN" TO IT'S BEAUTY ! IT'S JUST STUNNING ! That coin will put a spell on ya !
Before that ......mmmmm .... I like the Large Cent, 2 and 3 cents, The Morgan OF COURSE ! Luv those !, the Walking Liberty quarters too.....never seen a St. Gaudens in person but it'd have to be up there..... the $50.00 Buffalo is a goot one too !............Sheeeeeesh ! I like toooooo many to have a favorite ! (that changes from time to time !)

Eaglefoot,

I got my Bald Eagle Proof yesterday. It looks sweet, but when I looked at the stars on the reverse under 10x they looked like blobs. No PF70 DCAM here.

Yikes....

Does Eaglefoot have a bunch of coins in a basement pit...

Sorry I couldn't resist the Silence of the Lambs reference.

Draped bust large cent. Followed by (tied with?) ASE. Yeah the ASE is bullion. But I can't stop looking at mine.
