I see a VF-35 coin, cleaned with some distracting black toning and lines.

Would I spend $75 on it? YES! (Particularly if it's an Overton I don't have yet!)

I'm on the road and don't have all my Overton diagnostic tools with me so I can't help you with the variety (yet!).

I didn't have $75 on me, but it'll be there next week or anytime this week.

I agree with VF-35. Some issues (dark area on bottom reverse, dark streaks on reverse) but I think it would likely go problem free at a TPG. $75 sounds like a fairly good price.

VF-35 with some distracting marks on the reverse. Could be an O-118.
Rest in Peace

The price is good for that coin. Keep in mind that the 1830 is a very common date. If those lines on the reverse bother you now, they will bother you more in years to come.

For me, I'd wait a bit to find another 1830, if that is the date you want, with no distractions. Might cost another $25-$40, but well worth the wait, in my opinion.

Looks EF-40 details to me. A decent buy for $75.

Yes, decent buy if you don't mind the distractions. They would bother me.

Should I make the bite at $75? How much is this one realistically worth raw?

If you don't mind the dark streaks, it is a nice coin. Is $75 the asking price or the haggled price? If it's the asking price, make an offer and let him counter. Never be afraid to ask for a better deal!

Also, stop biting your fingernails.

As a collector of only Capped bust halves, I'd pass on this one. Like others have said, it is a common date with better examples out there.

Haven't yet. I probably could get him down to $60 but that'll probably be pushing it a bit and I'll have to provide some true convincing.
