I say it has value as an example. I would keep it and compare with your next find. The more design lost, the better.

with jbuck, though minor Struck Through Grease are some what common, you don't see them everyday. That is unless your searching through a thousand coins a day.

Also means you do know what to look for, just need to find one on a larger scale if you're more interested in value. Thanks, Doug.

to the forum!

Looks like someone polished this coin to make it look nice and shiny! That is a bad thing to do. If it were a rare error, it would lose considerable value from being cleaned.

I agree with the filled die replies.

Struck Through Grease can be nice. In my opinion, to generate interest, it should be completely missing devices along with a good location on the coin. This is my Greaser avatar.

The coin may have been struck with grease, but it was also polished to death when it was in circulation. Worth what it says on the reverse.

Thanks CWB, Jbuck. It is one of my all-time favorites.

Not trying to hijack your post, Carlo. Your coin is a good learning experience. Some of these Struck Through Grease errors are desirable.

Hmm... Sorry to be a bit contrary, and I really know very little French, but shouldn't the wording be "MON NICKEL" instead of "MON CELLO?"

Maybe in France. In the USA, it's supposed to be MONTICELLO.
