DAZ! I have a 1908 PCGS MS-62 no motto Saint and I would say yours is similar to mine. I bought it for my type set. (I have a Dansco with the gold page.) But it looks like yours has a bit more luster. Anyway, congrats on your 1 oz. gold purchase!

Quote: I am new to all this, but when I got the coin, I noticed all the flaws, and really wondered if this was an MS-63 considering what I had seen of other examples. You are smart for coming here and asking questions. Never hesitate to ask a question on this forum.

Thanks again guys. I am going to contact them through ebay and see what they say. You guys have been polite and helpful...a refreshing contrast to a lot of other forums out there. Keep up the good work!

ebay listing is 302156480159. Price has since been adjusted since my purchase; was originally offered as a "special", about 60 bucks cheaper. I initiated the return.

I had this one at AU-58. Looks like I need to send in some of mine for grading.

I was at MS63 when I first scrolled this thread, coming in way late, looked at first glance to be a solid MS63 to me, PCGS is right on with this coin IMO.

I just checked the APMEX site for random year, the difference between a 62 and 63 graded by PCGS is $10. I would keep this one IMO, it may cost you more to send it back.

Agree with both these comments. I think 63 is a fair grade here. Sure, it's not a high-end 63 but a 62 or 63 have basically the same value today (and most days for generic Saints). It looks to have a good luster and at least average eye appeal. I can't see the price you paid but assuming it was under $1300 you did fine.

Thanks for the input everybody. I sent it back at no cost and got a full refund. In hand, I will tell you that the scratches, especially the ones on the back, looked pretty bad and I felt detracted from the overall look of the coin. The black marks as well- very noticeable. I think for my money I could have found a coin with at least better eye appeal at the same grade.

I agree with the 61/62 crowd; too baggy and inadequate eye appeal for MS-63. Apparently the 1922 is readily available in PGCS or NGC MS-63 so it shouldn't be too hard to find one that most would agree is solid for that grade.
Glad you were able to arrange a no-cost refund!
