Must of been a thread Jim I posted a new pic...I have kerataconus in both eyes-had corneal transplant in my left 20 yrs ago and need the right one done now. But even the left one has gone downhill again. Believe it or not when searching coins I use cheater glasses with my 10x loupe lol but with the 16x no cheaters.

I had no idea, it doesn't slow you down from finding nice coins. I wear readers with my 10 and 16 loupes. Anyway, it must have been a thread because the inside of it looks the same. It looked like a Long Horn steer or one of the Midwest states. lol

Before you deleted the picture I thought it looked like a thread as well.
Nice Cud!

Nice find, but I don't think it qualifies as a Cud. It doesn't affect the rim at all.
It is a nice chip with a crack though!

Thanks Slamn. I don't think it qualifies as a thread, there's no knot connecting it to itself.

Not a Cud yet,it is what I call a pre-CUD. Now it's a die crack with chip,IMHO.

I think it qualifies as a small Cud, because it is much larger than a crack and seems to be on or at the inner design rims edge.

The piece of dust, lint or pet hair cast a cool shadow. Leaves no doubt of the lighting direction.

Also slight misalignment added a double or false rim. Thanks, Doug.

This is tough, I think just a die chip, but nice!

So this one was an interesting journey. I've had a couple small Cuds listed in the past but seems this one was just too small but it is now listed as SKH-1c-1983-21. Too funny I didn't even see it JC did.

Also when I look at the other small ones I had they also rose up higher to the level of the rim, thanks for all the input too (so no newcomers get confused it is not a Cud but the die crack at 12 o'clock makes it a spike head)
