MS 65. Too much chatter for a 66.

I'd bet on 65+ and know I'm within a half grade one side or the other.

I'm pretty conservative when it comes to grading, and I've got it at MS65+. Man, that cheek looks CLEAN, and the entire bust looks immaculate. Lovely specimen. Without that chatter, though. . . . . goodness gracious.

Easy 65+ or 66.

And the grade is: PCGS MS-65 CAC I was kind of expecting a 65+ on this one since the cheek is so clean - The chatter in the field keeps it out of 66 territory (Although on the right day, it might be able to sneak into a 66 holder). I won't be getting rid of this one for a long time, I just like it too much.

As you may have also seen, there are many coins worse than yours in 66 holders. I think that PCGS gets it right most of the time, but the overgraded 66s all seem to end up on ebay and large dealer online inventory at attractive prices. Because most people tend to hoard nicer coins and sell overgraded ones, I think that people tend to believe that the majority of slabbed coins are overgraded. I think it is true that the majority of stuff on the market that is attractively priced tends to be overgraded. That is what the market incentivizes. PCGS certainly makes mistakes in grading - they are human after all - but for the most part, I think they get it right. You have a beautiful coin by the way, and as someone said earlier, if not for the small amount of chatter, this coin would really be among the finest.

65 with CAC is about equal to 65+, with 65 CAC being better IMO.

I certainly agree - you get what you pay for (especially on ebay). It's difficult to find attractive coins for attractive prices. Quote: 65 with CAC is about equal to 65+, with 65 CAC being better IMO. I agree with this as well, I'd prefer a 65 CAC to a 65+ especially when the majority of my buying is done online and I don't get the chance to inspect the coin until it arrives.

I missed this one but 65+ was first my impression. It has the check of a 66 but the obverse left field limits it. At any rate, another fine pick CB.
