Great nickels! You're doing well Mark. On the right track. These are however easier years to find better steps due to the reworked reverse dies in 1939 ( the type 2 ).

Thanks TNG. Actually those were the remaining coins I needed to complete the first page. Luckily I had boughten a BU set of War Nickels earlier this year.

Thanks all for your kind replies - I couldn't pass them over for $3.85 a piece. Obviously not worth slabbing but nice fillers for the Dansco.

I'm with most everyone - first two FS, third one not.

Oh yeah - I remember you getting from that guy that was selling like 30 sets - can't remember his ID though. Those were really nice sets for the low cost. I'll get a pic as soon as I can figure out the best setting for my cheapo camera. I've tried but get nothing but glare or blurriness from the plastic page inserts.

Concur with the already stated assessments of FS potential.

Please accept the following commentary as 'instructive' and not 'critical':

Your 1940-D as shown in the photographs appears to have several significant obverse portrait bag hits/marks ... might simply be the photos ... but if they exist in hand then IMHO 5FS or not this is a low MS example.

Still a much better example than my CRH found 1940-D.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

Yes, though much more noticeable in the picture than in the album. I can't complain - you really gotta squint to see them in hand.

Be careful sliding the plastic in Danscos and similar albums if you upgrade or fill holes. Make sure your coins are all the way down into the holes so the plastic doesn't rub over the surface of the coins as you slide them in and out. It's something to bear in mind.

I agree. Dansco albums do require patience when placing nicer coins.
