I don't have access to my Kelly book, but I believe it lists the serial number ranges for the various types issued by banks. E.g. 1929 Type 1 $10 1-325 http://www.antiquemoney.com/nationa...agiac-10073/ this website states there were 308 sheets of $20 Type 1's printed for this bank. -MV

Saw that one on the Bay. I have a few Michigan notes; from places I've been over the years. Growing up, the family used to vacation at Bert Lake, Houghton Lake, and later Drummond Island in the U.P. Haven't been up that way except for car trades at dealerships in the lower part of the state.
Beautiful note Mr Frog. Had I been to Dowagiac, I would have been bidding as well.

Quote: ...but this seems to be the lowest serial number by far. "seems to be?" Ok, I don't know anything about these National notes, but how much lower could you get that #2?!

The chances are pretty good that if a #2 note suddenly shows up a #1 note is probably not far behind!

Growing up in the Michiana region, I know about Dowagiac but I have never been there.

Thanks everyone. MV - Thanks, I didn't know that! Mfhorn - I've never heard of Dowagiac much less been there. I just like low serial numbers and had $200 in Paypal Rewards to use. Kyle - Obviously that didn't come out right! westernsky - Boy I hope you're wrong!

CoinFrog - it's definitely country. There are a number of lakes in the area, as well as orchards and vineyards. Very bucolic.

Super National Mr.Frog.
A dealer once told me that serial number "2" is much harder to find than serial number "1". Many bank officials saved serial 1 sheets and serial 2 usually went into circulation.
I am genuinely impressed sir. Great pickup.

Steve - I've heard the same thing, and it's certainly confirmed by my own experience.
