Found it in a bargain bin at my local coin shop for next to nothing. I thought it was beautiful and I had never had one so I figured I was probably getting it for a steal.

Very nice. Are these ever found in $25 boxes?

IMHO these get pulled from circulation pretty quickly, but finds are reported on CCF with some frequency. You could use the CCF search function to find these other threads.

Oftentimes in a $25 penny box, you'll never see one this severe. Not saying it is impossible but highly unlikely.

Check the weight. That may help narrow down the year? Thanks, Doug.

It looks like Zinc to me so it really doesn't narrow it down much because even 1982 had a Zinc variety. So it only throws out 1980 and 1981.

One ODV would nail it down if weight around 3.11grams. If certain its zinc plated cent. One RDV maybe distinguish it from the other.

I'll have to say tough to tell with current images. Thanks, Doug.
