The technology/software available to today's coin designers allows for many design elements to be fairly easily incorporated into a coin. As a result, IMO, many of today's coins take on more of a photographic style vs. older coins whose designs were sculpted out of clay and relied heavily on the artist's ability to express his/her internal vision for the coin/medal via manual manipulation of the clay.

Good for you, Foxwoods Man. And I mean that sincerely. The art on the coin sould be appreciated for what it is. The thing is, if you asked 30 fourth grade students to draw a picture of "Life" you'd get a lot of different pictures because everyone has their own idea (or agenda) of what Life means. I suspect, however, you'd see more than one tree in that lot of art work. I never lived on a farm so I really don't know. Is it common for toddlers to learn to sow seeds? |
