Crazy - That portrait of Washington on the $1 US Note was first used in the Series of 1869 and ran continuously until 1929.

Incidentally, when I tried to figure the value of this pair, I simply added together what I would willingly pay for each note, with no regard for what they might bring as a pair (that's too iffy a bet). Then just backed out the commission and bid.

Great going, Coinfrog! I just saw this post. You should've put the bills in the low s/n thread (which I follow more closely). They're certainly low. Gotta love the seller's sense of humor, too.
I didn't bid myself but I saw the pair going for only a little more than they might w/o the fancy s/ns. That sure made it good! Now, can you find some more M1000s to make a collection, lol?
And, the bills are truly beautiful- white and razor sharp!

ron - Thanks, it was a surprisingly good deal I thought, and it was all thanks to you. I would not have bid had you not backed out on your first post. GC doesn't do a lot of paper money and doesn't have much of a following in this area, I think.
